Congratulations to the Highland Hospital Emergency Department (ED) for earning Bronze-level Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA), recognizing the team’s commitment to providing exceptional, evidence-based care for our growing population of older adult patients.
Developed by leaders in emergency medicine, GEDA honors emergency departments that have demonstrated the policies, processes, education, and interdisciplinary practices needed to provide coordinated, high-quality care for older adults.
This accreditation reflects Alameda Health System’s (AHS) continued efforts to improve patient outcomes, enhance the care experience, and ensure geriatric patients receive the specialized support they need.
Achieving this distinction was made possible by the dedication and teamwork of many individuals across our organization. We extend a special thank you to emergency physician Julie Gesch, MD, and Celine Whiteley, RN II, for their collaboration and leadership in helping make this accomplishment possible.
We also recognize our ED leadership team, along with the many physicians, nurses, advanced practice providers, social workers, case managers, pharmacists, rehabilitation therapists, and support staff whose expertise and contributions helped bring this effort to fruition.
