The leaves weren’t the only things moving this fall. Alameda Health System (AHS) employees laced up their sneakers and hit their stride during Walktober 2025, our month-long wellness challenge designed to inspire daily movement and a little friendly competition.
Now in its second year, Walktober has become an annual AHS tradition that brings staff together to move more and feel better. Even more impressive, 55% of participants reached their personal activity goals.
Participation doubled this year with more than 300 employees joining the challenge, up from just 144 in the first year. The growing enthusiasm for Walktober shows how committed our AHS community is to supporting wellness and teamwork one step at a time.
Walktober motivated participants to track their steps and earn colorful digital “leaves” each day while bringing together teams and individuals across the system to make wellness fun and achievable.
Here’s how we did:
- Total Leaves Earned: 5,267
- Certificates Awarded: 165 achievement certificates (met goal); 135 participation certificates
- Total Steps: 92,970,701
