Alameda Health System (AHS) has launched a new badge buddy that outlines the workflows staff should follow when a patient arrives in immigration custody or if U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) presents at any of our facilities. To request the new badge buddy, please reach out to the security manager at your facility.
AHS has had incidents where ICE agents have presented at some of our locations to bring a patient in their custody for medical care. Our mission is to serve all, and we would never turn away a patient in need.
In each instance, our leaders followed our established protocols, immediately deployed to the facility, and ensured the situation was managed safely and respectfully.
The safety of our staff and patients is always top priority, which is why the executive team developed and drills these protocols.
It’s essential that you familiarize yourself with these workflows and have them readily available.
The badge buddy, our workflows and other important immigration resources are always available on our intranet under Quick Links, immigration resources. Please review the intranet page and its content to be better prepared should ICE present at your facility.
