Alameda Health System’s first baby of 2026 is a girl. She was born at 1:17 a.m. on Jan. 1 at The Family Birthing Center on The Wilma Chan Highland Hospital Campus. She weighs eight pounds.
New Year’s Day is not only the baby’s birthday, but also her mother’s birthday.
“It is very special that she was born today,” the mother said. “I want to say thank you to the staff, nurses, and doctors at Highland who helped us deliver.”
