Alameda Health System (AHS) continues to work diligently to navigate an unprecedented financial crisis by identifying savings or improvement opportunities with its $100 Million Together campaign. This effort recognizes a simple truth: meeting its $100 million savings goal will require solidarity and ideas, partnership and action from all staff.

AHS is working closely with departments across the system to explore how they can operate more efficiently, ensuring patients can continue to receive the quality care they need for years to come. Every cost-saving and revenue-generating effort is evaluated through the lens of maintaining high-quality, safe and compassionate care.

The $100 Million Together campaign seeks to collect, assess and bring teams together to implement efficiency ideas that reduce expenses and increase revenue. No idea is too small, as taken together, they can have a meaningful systemwide impact.

Recent and ongoing efforts include reviewing discretionary expenses and other non-patient care services, resulting in approximately $120,000 in annual savings. AHS teams are also advancing paperless invoicing, which represents a potential $1 million savings opportunity.

AHS is also renegotiating contracts to consolidate and secure better pricing from vendors. Cell phone replacement policies are being evaluated and bed purchasing versus bed rentals is being assessed.

In addition, AHS has prioritized revenue-focused work, including efforts to strengthen revenue collection to ensure they are fully paid for the care they provide.

AHS recognizes that the financial challenges they face are significant and efficiency work cannot be generated and implemented without a partnership with staff.

The campaign stresses every department, every idea and every improvement matters. All AHS staff are encouraged to submit their ideas on the intranet
