The General Election is quickly approaching on November 8, and Alameda Health System (AHS) encourages everyone to make their voice heard by exercising their right to vote. To help support this, voter registration forms in multiple languages are available at all of AHS’s acute care hospitals for any patients who wish to register. AHS’s post-acute services also has programs in place to support patients who wish to vote in the elections.

Voter Registration Information

To participate in the 2024 General Election, you must register by October 21, 2024. Californians can easily register or check their registration status online at registertovote.ca.gov.

If you miss the registration deadline but still want to vote, there are still options available. Contact the Secretary of State’s Elections Division at 800-345-VOTE (8683) or visit the California Secretary of State’s website for more information.

Ways to Return Your Ballot

Your county elections office will begin mailing out ballots to registered voters starting October 7, 2024. Ballot drop-off locations will begin to open on October 8, 2024. You can return your vote-by-mail ballot in several ways: by mail, at a designated drop-off location, or directly to your county elections office.

For Alameda County, early in-person voting at vote centers will begin on October 26, 2024.

In lieu of of voting in person, you may return your ballot by mail or drop it off at a convenient drop box location. Several drop boxes are available at AHS facilities:

  • Eastmont Wellness 7200 Bancroft Ave., Oakland Located in the parking lot near Eastmont Mall’s Center for Independent Living
  • Fairmont Hospital Campus 15400 Foothill Blvd., San Leandro Outside the Engineering Department building
  • San Leandro Hospital 13855 E. 14th Street, San Leandro Between the main entrance and emergency entrance
  • Wilma Chan Highland Hospital Campus 1311 E. 31st Street, Oakland Near the bus stop at E. 31st Street and Stuart Street

Remember to sign the back of your return envelope to ensure your vote counts! Drop boxes are open until 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. Vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked by Election Day (November 8) and received by November 12, 2024.
