Dr. Andrea Wu is the Associate Chief Medical Officer for Acute Care Services at Wilma Chan Highland Hospital for Alameda Health System.
In this role, Dr. Wu oversees the clinical services of the Emergency Department, Perioperative Areas, Inpatient Services, and the Family Birthing Center at Highland Hospital. She collaborates with the system Chief Medical Officer, department chairs, and other healthcare leaders to align clinical operations with the hospital’s strategic goals. She also serves as core faculty for the Highland Emergency Medicine Residency Program to train the next generation of physicians and thought leaders.
Dr. Wu grew up as the daughter of immigrant parents, which inspired her to dedicate her career to helping vulnerable communities in safety net hospital systems. Prior to working at Alameda Health System, Dr. Wu served as the Vice Chair and Director of the Clinical Operations at the Department of Emergency Medicine at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. In this role, she oversaw all clinical affairs in the Emergency Department and supervised faculty, residents and medical students caring for patients in the Emergency Department.
Dr. Wu received her Bachelor of Science in Biology with minors in Chinese and psychology from Georgetown University. She obtained her Doctor of Medicine from the University of Maryland in Baltimore. She trained at LAC + University of Southern California (USC) Medical Center in Emergency Medicine residency, serving as chief resident. She went on to complete a fellowship in Healthcare Administration. Dr. Wu obtained a Master of Medical Management (MMM) from the USC Marshall School of Business.
