Peggy Cambra, a longtime resident of Alameda celebrated her 99th birthday this year. She is a remarkable woman with a deep appreciation for the quality medical care she has received over the years at Alameda Health System (AHS).
“My mother appreciates having all her medical records in one system so that AHS staff has all her information at their fingertips,” shared her son Jeff Cambra. “Her experiences highlight her trust and satisfaction with the personalized and efficient care offered at AHS.”
Five years ago, Cambra developed a large blister on her right calf muscle. She went to the emergency department at Alameda Hospital where they cleaned her wound and applied a new dressing in the waiting room, eliminating the need for a long wait.
“Over the years, my mother has preferred to use Alameda Hospital for her medical care and when possible, to use the emergency department for more urgent matters,” shared her son. “She prefers the smaller atmosphere and more individualized care.”
Cambra was referred to the Creedon Wound Center where she received treatment that completely healed her wound. “The convenience of having Creedon close to home was a significant advantage for me,” she said.
Recently, Cambra faced a new challenge with getting in and out of her son’s car and she was referred to the physical therapy department at Alameda Hospital. “I was pleased to learn that Alameda Hospital was more than a hospital and emergency room and that it provided other services,” said Cambra.
Today, Cambra is healthy and living an active lifestyle. She loves visiting local restaurants and savoring freshly brewed coffee on Sunday mornings at The Local in Alameda. “My mother credits much of her long life to the outstanding medical care she has received from various AHS facilities,” said her son.
