The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) nationally recognized Alameda Health System (AHS) for its outstanding efforts in promoting organ, eye and tissue donor registrations. The recognition is part of HRSA’s DoNation Campaign, which encourages businesses and hospitals to raise awareness and educate on organ, tissue and eye donation.

AHS was honored with Platinum recognition—the highest level awarded—for its awareness and registration efforts between October 2023 and September 2024. This achievement directly contributed to new donor registrations, furthering the mission of saving lives through organ donation.

AHS is proud of its decades-long partnership with Donor Network West who presented the recognition to AHS at last month’s Department Leaders Meeting.

The need for organ donors remains urgent. According to Donor Network West, every eight minutes, a new patient is added to the national transplant waiting list, underscoring the importance of increasing donor registrations. AHS’ efforts in the DoNation Campaign reflect its ongoing commitment to providing compassionate care and advancing lifesaving initiatives.

This recognition highlights the dedication of AHS staff in making a meaningful impact on organ donation awareness. Their hard work and advocacy not only support donor registration efforts but also offer hope to thousands of individuals awaiting life-saving transplants.
