As we head into 2018, it’s with great pleasure Alameda Health System, Alameda Health Partners and the UCSF Department of Neurological Surgery, East Bay formally announce the appointments of two new neurosurgeons practicing at Highland Hospital. We’d like to welcome neurosurgery physician providers, Dr. Margaret Riordan, assistant professor of neurosurgery and Dr. Sun Ik Lee, assistant professor of neurosurgery.

Dr. Riordan’s areas of clinical interest include skull-based neurosurgery (pituitary tumors, acoustic neuromas), brain tumors and cranial trauma. Her research interests include trauma and neuro-oncology. Dr. Riordan received her medical degree from the University of Iowa, College of Medicine, completed her residency at State University of New York-Upstate Medical University and completed a fellowship in skull-based surgery and neuro-oncology at Stanford Medical Center.

Dr. Lee’s areas of clinical interest include general neurosurgery, degenerative spine pathologies, spinal deformities and minimally invasive surgeries. His research interests include spinal cord injury and cost-effectiveness of spine surgeries. Dr. Lee received his medical degree from Loma Linda University, completed his residency at Tulane University and completed an orthopaedic spine fellowship at UCSF.

This further extends our partnership with UCSF with the goal of becoming a neurosurgery center of excellence in the East Bay.
