On October 25, 2017, the Alameda Health System announced that Louis Chicoine, executive director for Abode Services, has been appointed to the AHS Board of Trustees for a three-year term.

“I am very pleased to welcome Louis Chicoine to the AHS board,” said Michele Lawrence, AHS board president. “In his current role, Mr. Chicoine has demonstrated a deep commitment to providing quality housing and health care to vulnerable populations, which is directly aligned with our mission. We look forward to his valuable contributions on the board as we move forward in improving access to health in our communities.”

Abode Services is one of the Bay Area’s largest providers of housing services to the homeless. Under Chicoine’s leadership for more than 20 years, Abode Services grew from a local “start-up” serving a small number of families in Fremont, to a regional organization that owns and operates hundreds of supportive housing units, and provides services to more than 4,400 adults and children annually across Alameda, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Mateo and Napa counties.

“I am honored to be appointed by the Alameda County Board of Supervisors to the (AHS) Board of Trustees,” Chicoine said. “The organization is a critical component to the strong foundation of the county’s health safety net, and I look forward to working with leadership to provide the high-quality health care that all county residents deserve.”

Chicoine’s initial term as an AHS board member will end in 2020.
