In response to the guilty verdict of Derek Chauvin in the killing of George Floyd, Alameda Health System acknowledges that this may lead to a mixture of response and emotion. Regardless of personal beliefs, this is a moment in our nation where the U.S. Justice System has spoken. It supports our ongoing effort to address all kinds of race-related violence and bias against minority communities. Although this may be a positive step, we must remain vigilant in our efforts to look both outwardly and inwardly to uphold the right to safety, health care and respect for all. We remain committed to being an antiracist organization and working actively to oppose racism in all forms. No community should be marginalized or mistreated due to race, creed, color, or orientation.
As the community reacts, AHS will remain a steadfast pillar for care and are here to serve. We encourage everyone to find constructive ways to express thoughts and show respect to those who may be struggling.
