Alameda Health System Hosts Virtual Holiday Food Drive!
COVID-19 has changed so much of our everyday lives – how we work, how we shop, how we socialize and even how we contribute to our favorite charities. The holiday season is often a time for us to participate in food drives to help some of our most vulnerable communities whose health is directly impacted by access to healthy foods.
For the 5th year in a row, Alameda Health System has partnered with the Alameda County Community Food Bank (ACCFB) and is hosting a Virtual Holiday Food Drive through December 31, 2020, and this year, the need is even greater than before!
ACCFB estimates the need for food has doubled since the start of the pandemic and is distributing more than 1 million pounds of food per week. That’s enough food for 60,000 people daily. Because of COVID restrictions and safety precautions, they are not able to accept individual donations of food, so your contributions are critical to their ability to feed those in need.
Every $1 donated helps provide two healthy meals! Our Virtual Holiday Food Drive will help ACCFB purchase its most needed items such as milk, eggs, and fresh produce. You can shop on their website or make a direct donation online: https://www.vfd-accfb.org/home.aspx. Be sure to select our group name “Alameda Health Sys.” in their drop down menu and we’ll post periodic updates on the intranet.
Lending a helping hand has never been easier. Donate today!
