Creating a Better Patient Experience by Increasing Access to More Medical Information
Beginning on Monday, November 2, 2020, Alameda Health System (AHS) patients will find a host of new documents in their MyAlamedaHealth account to inform their health care experience at AHS.
“It’s a new day for our patients at AHS. Now, they will have easy and complete access to their medical records through MyAlamedaHealth,” said Dr. David English, AHS Chief Medical Informatics Officer.
In March 2020, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) finalized the approval of the 21st Century Cures Act Information Blocking Rule which required the release of provider notes to our patients with implementation taking effect November 2, 2020.
AHS patients who are registered in MyAlamedaHealth can view their medical records, including physician notes by logging into their account where they will have access to documents dating back to September 28, 2019 when our electronic health record was implemented at AHS.
For access to health records prior to September 28, 2019 or for hard copies of medical records, AHS patients may contact the AHS Medical Records Department at 510-437-4469.
AHS is committed to providing patients with high-quality care and a better patient experience by improving access to more individual health information including notes from each AHS visit.
“Information Blocking is a timely step forward for AHS as we grow towards an increasingly transparent relationship between our patients and their electronic health data,” said Information Blocking Project Manager Chase Wellsfry
