Dr. Hoh. M.D., Chief of Long Term Care, Medical Director of SNF, and physician in charge of B1 Sub-Acute, B1 SNF and B2 SNF wards at the Fairmont Hospital.

Congratulations to Dr. Arlen Hoh, who recently retired after 35 years of service to Fairmont Hospital!

Dr. Arlen Hoh graduated from UCSF’s medical school.(1977). He did his medical residency at Highland Hospital (1977-1981) after which he dedicated himself for almost 35 years to Fairmont’s SNF.(1982-2016). He is also Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and certified of Added Qualifications-Geriatrics.

Per Karen Ross, Clinical Nurse Specialist –>

He is a Buddhist and lived his life as one:

  • Always generous, kind and understanding to his residents at the SNF.
  • A registered nurse at the facility refers to him an old time “doc”.
  • He would allow the nurses to contact him all three shifts.
  • Nurses would always say that they never had to worry about their patients because Dr.Hoh was always available.
  • Annually he held a Christmas party and a barbecue for residents.
  • Social workers praised him as always available for “on the spot” meetings (including families)
  • Clinical Preceptor at Samuel Merritt Physician Assistant Program
  • An overall commitment to teaching and mentoring others
  • Bringing in breakfast and lunch for staff and never forgetting the night shift.
  • He will be remembered as a “legend” at Fairmont and we will all miss him.
