Oakland, Calif. (April 5, 2017– Alameda Health System (AHS) today announced that Tangerine Brigham has been named Chief Administrative Officer, Population Health. In this role, Brigham will lead the health system’s ongoing efforts to improve the patient experience, reduce costs and transition to population health management.

Research has shown that traditional health care delivery only accounts for a small percentage of overall individual and community health.

Brigham will lead AHS’s population health strategy, laying a foundation of wellness and disease management programs across the continuum of care and positioning the organization to deliver the best value in a high-quality, integrated healthcare model.

She will also work with community partners to develop programs/services that address key social determinants of health (such as the lack of housing or access to fresh food), and will develop partnerships with government leaders focused on improving community health equity.

"We fully believe that Alameda County can and should be one of the healthiest counties in California,” said Delvecchio Finley, Alameda Health System CEO. “Brigham is a seasoned, balanced leader with the ability to position AHS as a population health manager able to help our county achieve this status.”

Brigham has more than 20 years of experience in non-profit and public sectors, most recently serving as the deputy director of managed care services for the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. Previously, she held leadership positions in managed care with the San Francisco Department of Public Health, The San Francisco Foundation, L.A. Health Care Plan and the Corporation for Supportive Housing.

Brigham expanded access to health care for uninsured adults in San Francisco through the development of Healthy San Francisco, and has overseen creation of My Health LA, a health access program for Los Angeles’ uninsured, undocumented residents.

Brigham holds a master’s in public policy from the University of California, Berkeley and a bachelor’s in economics from the University of California, Los Angeles. She is a National Association of Public Hospitals Fellow.
