Welcome to the Alameda Health System bargaining update. This document reflects our commitment to communicate in a timely manner and provide valuable information to providers and staff throughout the bargaining process. Our primary objective is to work with the labor team to reach an agreement that leads to an enhanced patient care experience; supports our ability to provide a great working environment; and creates long-term sustainability that ensures our ability to contribute to the overall health and wellness of the people we serve.
AHS and SEIU 1021 General Chapter and Registered Nurse units bargaining teams gathered this week for early stage meetings on labor agreements that expire on March 31, 2017. Employees in the General Chapter Unit include include EVS, dietary, clerical, LVNs, CNAs, support, therapy, pharmacy, social work, lab, technicians, imaging and finance, while the RN Unit includes registered nurses, midwives, nurse anesthetists, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners. The employees work at Highland, Fairmont, John George hospitals and the wellness centers.
Labor representatives submitted several proposals that will be considered in greater detail. AHS and the General Unit agreed that all proposals will be submitted by February 14, 2017. The RN Unit is considering a similar deadline for their group, which was proposed by AHS.
The next bargaining session for the General Chapter Unit is January 17 and January 19 for the Registered Nurse Unit.
