Faculty

The Division of Dentistry has numerous staff general dentists providing patients with comprehensive services to complement the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training program. General dentists provide the full scope of restorative care at Highland Hospital and are intimately involved in the preparation and follow-up for preprosthetic and osseointegrated implant patients. Maxillofacial Prosthodontists assist in the extensive and complicated reconstructive efforts in complex cases and orthodontic services are available in the preparation of patients undergoing orthognathic facial reconstructive surgery.

Administration

The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Training Program is under the Direction of the University of The Pacific. The following Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery attending staff have diverse and extensive training and experience to assist in the education of the surgery residents.

Chief of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

Dr. Tom Indresano is the Chairman, Chief of OMS and full time faculty.  He was born in Winthrop, Massachusetts. In 1967 he received his AB degree from Boston University. He received his Doctor of Dental Medicine in 1971 from Harvard University and a certificate in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from Vanderbilt University in 1974.

Prior to joining the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in September 2001, Dr. Indresano served as Chief of the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Medical College of Wisconsin. He also held the position of Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Marquette School of Dentistry and was the Program Director of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition he has held academic positions at the University of Illinois College of Dentistry, University of Chicago where he was Program Director and Division Chief of the Zoller Dental Clinic, and Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry. He is a Fellow of the American and International College of Dentists, a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a past examiner for that Board.

Dr. Indresano has served as a representative to the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation Appeal Board for the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Trustee for the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Foundation, Advisory Committee Member of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Chair of the Executive Committee Faculty Section of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. He has published numerous articles in various peer reviewed journals and has delivered countless lectures throughout the nation. He has also been involved in many funded research projects.

Chan Park, DDS, MD, FACS

Dr. Chan Park is the Residency Program Director and full time faculty.  He joined the Highland Hospital/University of the Pacific Oral and Maxillofacial Residency Training Program as an Assistant Program Director and full-time Attending Surgeon in July 2011.  On July 1, 2013, Dr. Park became the Program Director of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program at the Highland Hospital/University of the Pacific.  He is also an Assistant Professor at the University of the Pacific, Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco.  He earned his Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree of Biology from UCSD in 2000 and his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from UCLA School of Dentistry in 2005. Dr. Park earned his Doctor of Medicine (MD) from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 2008 followed by a year internship in General Surgery at Loma Linda University Medical Center.  He completed his Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at Loma Linda University in 2011. 

Dr. Park is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and a Fellow of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) as well as the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (CALAOMS).  He is also a Fellow of American College of Surgeons.  He is currently serving as a board of director of CALAOMS and House of Delegates to AAOMS.  He has served as a reference committee member for AAOMS.  He is a consultant to the ADA Commission on Dental Accreditation as a site visitor.  He is a past recipient of Faculty Education Development Award awarded by AAOMS.  He has published numerous papers on peer-reviewed journals and serves as a reviewer for them as well. 

Erica Shook, DDS

Dr. Shook is an attending surgeon, assistant professor and full time faculty.  She joined the Highland Hospital/University of the Pacific Oral and Maxillofacial Residency Training Program as an Assistant Professor and full-time Attending Surgeon in July 2014.  She is also an Assistant Professor at the University of the Pacific, Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco.  She earned Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Biology from University of Michigan in 2004 and his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from University of Michigan in 2009. She completed a year of GPR from Hennepin County Medical Center in 2010.  She completed her Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery training at UOP/Alameda Health System, Highland Hospital in 2014. 

She is a member of the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS) as well as the California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (CALAOMS).  

Vincent W. Farhood, DDS
Attending Surgeon

Dr. Farhood is a part time faculty.  He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery, received a DDS from the University of Southern California School of Dentistry and completed his Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery residency in the USAF at Wilford Hall Medical Center, San Antonio, Texas.

Dr. Farhood has been on staff at Alameda Health System/Highland Hospital Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery since 1989.

Dr. Farhood has published diverse articles in Pathology, TMJ, Pharmacology, Anesthesiology, Urology and Surgical Techniques. He was inducted into the American College of Dentists in 1999.

Edmond Bedrossian, DDS
Implant Coordinator

Dr. Bedrossian is a part time faculty.  He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery, received a DDS from the University of The Pacific School of Dentistry and completed his residency in Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery at the Alameda Health System, Highland Hospital. Dr. Bedrossian is an Associate Professor at the University of California San Francisco and at the University of The Pacific San Francisco Dental Schools.

A past President of the San Francisco Dental Society (1997-1998) as well as former Trustee of the California Dental Association, he has held positions on the Board of Directors of the Northern California Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and is a currently a long term delegate to CALAOMS.  In addition to maintaining an active private practice, Dr. Bedrossian has served on the staff of Highland Hospital since 1990. He is the Director of Surgical Implant Training at the Alameda Health System Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery Residency.

He is past president of the Sadi Fontaine Academy, the alumni association of oral and maxillofacial surgery residents of Highland Hospital. Dr. Bedrossian has lectured nationally as well as internationally. He has published numerous articles and is a member of the Editorial Review Board of peer-reviewed journals.

Louie R. Limchayseng, DMD
Attending Surgeon


Dr. Limchayseng is a part time faculty.  He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery, received his DMD from the University of the Philippines, College of Dentistry, completed an internship in Anesthesiology/General Surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital, and trained in Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. In addition to his surgical residency, he also completed a fellowship in Maxillofacial Trauma/Reconstructive Surgery at Parkland Memorial Hospital University of Texas Southwestern Medical School.

Dr. Limchayseng is a Fellow of both the American and International Associations of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons and the American College of Dentist. He is a member of the Academy of Osseointegration, the ADA, the CDA and maintains a private practice in both Marin and Sonoma Counties.

Dr. Limchayseng has been on the staff of Highland Hospital in the Division of OMS since 1993 and holds a faculty appointment as Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery University of the Pacific School of Dentistry.

Kaiser Permanente Faculty

The University of The Pacific/Highland Hospital Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery has an affiliation with Kaiser Permanente Maxillofacial Surgery group.  Two residents rotate year round to gain high volume orthognathic surgery experience.  Kaiser Permante Maxillofacial Surgery group has wonderful group of attending surgeons and are invaluable asset to our program.
