The Nursing Education Department provides a variety of classes and training programs for Alameda Health System employees and clinical professionals from the community. Basic Life Support training is offered at regular intervals throughout the year. Advanced Cardiac Life Support courses are provided 3-4 times a year. The department organizes an annual Critical Care Conference, and offers a Critical Care course twice a year. Additional staff development and career enhancement programs are provided. Contact the department for a current schedule.
AHS serves as a clinical training site for several Bay Area nursing schools, including San Francisco State University, University of San Francisco, Dominican University, College of Marin, Samuel Merritt College, and Merritt Community College. Additionally, we offer an established nursing preceptor program for new graduates interested in specialized clinical training in areas such as Intensive Care, Medical-Surgical Care, Emergency Care and Maternal-Child Health. The program includes an intensive academic course of study followed by additional training under the guidance of experienced nursing educators in the clinical setting.
